Naureen Bhatti
Chair of Trustees
Read more
Naureen worked for over 35 years as a GP in Tower Hamlets and regionally and nationally as a leader in medical education. She is currently a Senior Appraiser for NHS England as well as Trustee for The Medical College of Saint Bartholomew’s Hospital Trust. She was appointed chair of the London Catalyst in January 2025.
Tower Hamlets is one of the most densely populated and diverse boroughs in London, with high levels of deprivation resulting in enormous challenges to the health and well-being of the local population. Naureen has spoken and written widely about the impact of deprivation on health and health services and the need for the wider determinants of health to be addressed if we are to make a difference. Furthermore, her work in medical education has led to an interest in the barriers that lead to differential attainment and the need to promote a more inclusive culture enriched by the depth and breadth of talent across the NHS.
Throughout her professional career Naureen has demonstrated the ability to build relationships and ensure cross-agency collaboration to make a difference to the lives of local communities. She hopes to bring this experience to her role as chair of London Catalyst.
